Double Take

Dan Ziskie and Melissa O’Shaughnessy are two New York City street photographers who ran into each other enough times in the course of their wanderings that they eventually began to talk to each other. That led to a friendship, and that friendship led to this zine. They realized that they found many of the same things to be of photographic interest, and that it would be interesting to put their work together on the printed page.

As their friendship took hold, so did the realization that the two of them could stand together in the same place at the same time and make very different photographs, or stand in different places at different times and make very similar ones.Double Take is a collection of many uncanny connections they found in their images from New York City and beyond. By gathering them together here, they hope to make a bit of a liar of Mark Twain, who famously quipped that “comparison is the death of joy”.
