The Crossing is composed entirely of photos taken at the corner of 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. There, the New York Public Library sits low enough in the surrounding landscape to allow warm afternoon light to stream down on the corner, and on the many people crossing between Uptown, Midtown, Grand Central Station, and Times Square. Sooner or later, everybody, whether they’re tourists, shoppers, commuters, business people – or street photographers – goes through the crossing. Some of their journeys are captured in these photographs.
